Planckian
Quantum processors that scale by design.
The company
Planckian is a quantum computing company based in Pisa that I co-founded with Vittorio Giovannetti and Michele Dallari. It builds superconducting quantum processing units designed to scale: control is global, so adding qubits does not mean adding a forest of cables.
As Chief Scientific Officer I lead the theory that shapes the architecture, and I work closely with the experimental team that tests it on chip.
Superconducting quantum computers usually need a dedicated control line for every qubit, and the wiring becomes the bottleneck long before the physics does. We design architectures in which a handful of global pulses drive the whole chip, with computation steered by engineered ZZ interactions between transmons. This is the scientific core of Planckian, and we have now seen the key ingredient, dynamical blockade between qubits, in the lab.
